Author Talk: Noel Pearson

Welfare has long been touted as a route to greater equality, economic empowerment and social wellbeing. But does long-term income support actually do more harm than good?

Join distinguished lawyer, academic and activist Noel Pearson for this year’s Renate Kamener Oration, our annual fundraiser for the Renate Kamener Indigenous Scholarship. This year’s Oration will be held in the Dining Hall at Ormond College, with the option to attend virtually. All donations will go to ensuring more Indigenous students can achieve their tertiary education ambitions and call Ormond College home while studying at the University of Melbourne.

Guests attending in-person will be charged $30 for general admission or $15 for students, while the virtual option is free. Donations made beyond the ticket price are tax-deductible, with all proceeds from tickets and donations going towards the Renate Kamener Indigenous Scholarship.

Donations made via credit card will incur a merchant fee of 1.5%. If you wish to make your donation via bank transfer, visit the Ormond College event listing for details.

Please note: Tickets for the in-person event will be capped at 280 guests in order to comply with COVID-Safe density requirements. We encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment.
