Ubud Writers & Readers Festival: Machines of the Future with Toby Walsh
Artificial Intelligence has made profound advancements in recent years, becoming a ubiquitous presence in our daily lives. What novel dimensions does machine learning introduce to our world? What will the evolving intersection of AI and creative practices truly resemble? How do technology and the arts collaborate, and what responsibilities do we bear in the development of AI? We will hear insights from Kate Pullinger, the author of Breathe, a smartphone short story that tailors its content based on the reader’s contextual data, achieved through the ‘triangulation’ of three interconnected realms: story, technology, and environment. We’ll also gain perspectives from Toby Walsh, an AI researcher and author, and Ismail Fahmi, an information scientist, regarding the future landscape.
Date: Sunday 22 October
